I’ve got five reasons to ride my bike

    Let’s ride, ride, ride, ride

    Jammies All Day Long

Every night at bedtime I can hardly wait

To open up the drawer to see the Jammies that await

Footies are my favorite, yes that’s what I like best

What worries me is morning when you make me get dressed

Footies are so practical they’re shirts, they’re pants, they’re shoes

Seems to me I’m fully dressed what do I have to lose

By wearing them in public, yes that’s what I would choose

So let’s all stay in Jammies, adults and children too!

Oh, Why can’t I just stay in my pajama’s all day long?

Why do I have to put clothes on, it just seems so wrong

You know I’m gonna take a nap, at least one, maybe two

Why can’t I stay in Jammies if I choose?

    I’m asleep, I’m awake, I’m awake, I’m asleep

    I’m awake, I’m asleep, I’m asleep, I’m awake

It makes sense to me, oh

Why can’t I just stay in my pajama’s all day long?

Why do I have to put clothes on, it just seems so wrong

You know I’m gonna take a nap, at least one, maybe two

Why can’t I stay in Jammies if I choose?

Why must it be a Holiday or if I’m sick in bed

If we just started wearing them, it would become a trend

Lawyers, doctors, bankers, in slippers and a tie

Even famous rock stars in polka dots and stripes, polka dots and stripes!

Oh, Why can’t I just stay in my pajama’s all day long?

Why do I have to put clothes on, it just seems so wrong

You know I’m gonna take a nap, at least one, maybe two

Why can’t I stay in Jammies if I choose?

Oh, Why can’t I just stay in my pajama’s all day long?

Why do I have to put clothes on, it just seems so wrong

You know I’m gonna take a nap, at least one, maybe two

Why can’t I stay in Jammies if I choose? Oh yeah!

Why can’t I stay in Jammies if I choose? Whoa!

Why can’t I stay in jammies, let’s all just stay in Jammies

I’d like to stay in jammies wouldn’t you?

    Sugar Buzz

I wake up each morning all calm and relaxed

While you sip your coffee I eat Honey Smacks

Gushers mid morning, cookies with lunch

When I get thirsty Hawaiian punch

Some ice-cream ‘cause I got a scrape on my knee

When I got my haircut they gave me candy

I’m starting to feel like an engine that’s revved

It’s going to get ugly when it’s time for bed…

‘Cause I got a sugar buzz, sugar buzz.

Yeah, I got a sugar buzz, sugar buzz

I can’t slow down right now because, because

I’m wired clear out of my brain

From eating too much sugar, sugar, sugar cane!

I’ve had some fructose, glucose, dextrose, lactose, maltose, sucralose

I think I had an overdose

Confectioner and granulated, brown sugar, turbinado

I’m buzzing through my day just like a tornado

Yeah, I got a sugar buzz, sugar buzz.

I got a sugar buzz, sugar buzz

I can’t slow down right now because

I’m wired clear out of my brain, of my brain

From eating too much sugar, sugar, sugar cane!

    Vegetables and fruit taste good

I should eat more really, really I should

‘cause I don’t like this buzzing around

I always crash when I come down, down, down

I got a sugar buzz, sugar buzz. I got a sugar buzz, sugar buzz

I got a sugar buzz, sugar buzz. Yeah, I got a sugar buzz, sugar buzz

I got a sugar buzz, sugar buzz. Yeah, I got a sugar buzz, sugar buzz

I can’t slow down right now because

I’m wired clear out of my brain, of my brain

From eating too much sugar, sugar, sugar cane

I got a sugar buzz, sugar buzz. I’m working up a sugar buzz, sugar buzz

I got a sugar buzz, sugar buzz. Look out I got a sugar buzz, sugar buzz

    Dance Party Every Night

When my day is over, I’ve had lots of fun,

I’ve hung out with my friends, played out in the sun

I’m starting to get tired but there’s one more thing to do

Let’s crank up some music and we’ll start to move

‘Cause music fills my soul, it’s time to Rock n’ Roll

That’s the best part of the day right before you hit the hay

You gotta jump up and down, shimmy all around

Have a dance party every night

Stomp your feet on the ground, turn your whole world around

    A dance party every night

Wave your hands up in the air, shake your little derrière

A dance party every night, and it feels alright

Feels alright, it feels alright, feels alright

Come on Mom and Dad, Sister now and Brother

Friends, neighbors everyone let’s dance with each other!

You gotta jump up and down, shimmy all around

Have a dance party every night

Stomp your feet on the ground, turn your whole world around

    A dance party every night

Wave your hands up in the air, shake your little derrière

A dance party every night, and it feels alright

Feels alright, it feels alright, feels alright

Dancing my cares away, Puts a smile on my face

    Let’s Jump!

You gotta jump up and down, shimmy all around

Have a dance party every night

Stomp your feet on the ground, turn your whole world around

    A dance party every night

Wave your hands up in the air, now shake your little derrière

Come on let’s jump up and down, shimmy all around

Have a dance party every night

Stomp your feet on the ground, turn your whole world around

    A dance party every night

Wave your hands up in the air, now shake your little derrière

    A Dance Party every night

Feels alright, Yeah it feels alright, it feels alright, feels alright, alright, alright

    It feels alright, feels alright

    Please Don't Pick Your Nose

There are lots of special things that you can pick

Making the right choices can be quite a trick

Picking out your clothes and pick your food right

And pick a windy day to fly a kite

Pick your favorite color, and have a favorite song

Pick the right friends and you can’t go wrong

    But please, please, please

    Don’t pick your nose.

If there’s an issue get a tissue please go find a box

Scotties, Puffs or Kleenex, fill it with your snot

Your fingers touch things that other people do

And no one likes your boogers except for maybe you

    So please, please, please

    Don’t pick your nose.

There are many cool things your fingers can do

Snap, clap and wiggle just to name just a few

They can play guitar, piano maybe flute

And sign in ASL and even tie your shoes

I know that it is tempting, there’s holes, your fingers fit

And it’s fun to dig around for those juicy little bits

But really it’s disgusting so please remember this

For others in the room, it makes us feel a little sick

So please, please, please Don’t pick your nose no, no, no, no nose.

Please, please, please Don’t pick your nose, It’s gross.

Don’t pick your nose, it’s really gross

    Don’t pick your nose.

    I Am a Horse

    Yeehah!

I am a horse, not a colt, not a pony

I am a horse, not a riding stick that’s phony

I am not a pig, I am not a cow

I am not a chicken or an egg anyhow

Give me my reins, give me my bit

Give me my saddle ‘cause my rider has to sit

And I am a horse, not a colt, not a pony

I am a horse, Please don’t feed me fried bologna

I am not a duck, I am not a goat

I am not a fish or anything that has to float

Give me my reins, I’m chomping at the bit

Let me gallop 40 miles a horse will never quit

And I am a horse, Not a colt, not a pony

    Yeah I am a horse

    Shiny eyes like abalone

Not a riding stick that’s phony

Please don’t feed me fried bologna

Old gray mare is big and bony

You’re a cowboy come and show me

    I am a horse

    Oh I’m a horse

    Yeah I’m a horse

    Oh I’m a horse

    Yeah I’m a horse

    Five Pieces of Bubble Gum

I’ve got 5 little pieces of bubble gum

I put one in my mouth and chew it yum, yum, yum

I’m gonna blow a bubble now that’s big and round (blow, blow, blow, blow, POP!)

Whoops! I dropped it on the ground

Now I’ve got 4 little pieces of Bubble gum

I put one in my mouth and chew it yum, yum, yum

I’m gonna blow a bubble now that’s big and round (blow, blow, blow, blow, POP!)

Whoops! I dropped it on the ground

Now I’ve got 3 little piece of Bubble gum

I put one in my mouth and chew it yum, yum, yum

I’m gonna blow a bubble now that’s big and round (blow, blow, blow, blow, POP!)

Whoops! I dropped it on the ground

Now I’ve got 2 little piece of Bubble gum

I put one in my mouth and chew it yum, yum, yum

I’m gonna blow a bubble now that’s big and round (blow, blow, blow, blow, POP!)

Whoops! I dropped it on the ground

Now I’ve got 1 little piece of Bubble gum

I put it in my mouth and chew it yum, yum, yum

I’m gonna blow a bubble now that’s big and round (blow, blow, blow, blow, POP!)

Whoops! I dropped it on the ground

I’ve got no little pieces of Bubble Gum

They all fell on the ground so I guess I’m done

I’d like to come and play now but I can’t move

‘cause all five pieces are stuck to my shoe!

The Best Me I Can Be

Hey, Hey, Hey Look at me.

I’m more than you think you see.

In my life there has been struggle then some things come more easily

    Hey, you would not believe.

All the things I can do and how hard I’ve worked to achieve

Come on and dance with me, ‘cause my spirit’s wild and free

I am far from weak, I’ve won more battles than you’ll ever see

Hey, take another look at me

I am strong and I can fight I have will and I’ve got might, plenty

    Hey, please don’t judge me

Just like Dr. Stephen Hawkings I’ve got my own place in History

I may be different, yeah! But that doesn’t make me less

Just like everyone, I’m gonna do my personal best

And I’m gonna be the best me that I can be

Yeah, I’m gonna be the best me that I can be, Hey…

I feel love and pain just like everyone

Who I am is who I am and I’m the only one!

I’m gonna be the best me that I can be

Yeah, I’m gonna be the best me that I can be

I’m gonna be the best me that I can be

Yeah, I’m gonna be the best me that I can be

    Hey look at me…

    Hey Great Pumpkin

Hey great pumpkin when you gonna come?

Hey great pumpkin when you gonna come?

Me and Linus, been here all night

In the pumpkin patch, looking for a sign

Of that giant gourd, pure pumpkin gold

Comes on Hallows Eve, it is foretold

    Hey great pumpkin when you gonna come? (P P P P P P Pumpkin)

    Hey great pumpkin when you gonna come? (P P P P P P Pumpkin)

My tummy’s hungry, and my toes are froze

You’re just running late, I suppose

    Charlie Brown and Lucy too

    They think I’m crazy

But I believe in you, I believe in you

So hey great pumpkin when you gonna come? (P P P P P P Pumpkin)

    Hey great pumpkin when you gonna come? (P P P P P P Pumpkin)

Please don’t be a myth, I missed tricks and treats for this

    Hey great pumpkin when you gonna come? (P P P P P P Pumpkin)

    Hey great pumpkin when you gonna come? (P P P P P P Pumpkin)

    Hey great pumpkin when you gonna come? (P P P P P P Pumpkin)

    Hey Great pumpkin I’m missing all the fun  (P P P P P P Pumpkin)

How Would It Make You Feel?

Keith came home from school today a teardrop rolling down his face

Some kids he thought were his friends had pushed him down hard in a fence

It hurt real bad but they just laughed, now he doesn’t want to go back

Jackie in the lunchroom sat, heard some girls behind her back

The things they said were mean and cruel and made her feel just like a fool

The other kids they laughed at that, and here’s one thing I have to ask

How would it make you feel to be made fun of?

How would it make you feel to be pushed down and shoved?

Before you hurt someone I ask of you, THINK!

How would it make you feel if it were you?

We all need friends that’s easy to see

You hurt yourself when you’re making fun of me

No one will trust you to be kind to them

If you bully just once, you may bully again

How would it make you feel to be called a name?

How would it make you feel to be left out of a game?

Everyone has a choice, to be kind or be cruel Think!

How would it make you feel, to break the golden rule?

How would it make you feel, how would it make you feel?

How would it make you feel, how would it make you feel?

Happy, happy, happy, happy tea time

    Oh tea time, tea time

Won’t you have tea with me?

Tea time is great all by myself

But it’s even better with someone else

I’ll invite my Mommy, I’ll invite my bear

I’ll invite my dolly with the curly hair for

    Tea Time, tea Time

Happy, happy, happy, happy tea time

    Oh tea time, tea time

Won’t you have tea with me?

First I’ll get the cups and the saucers too

Would you like some sugar, one lump or two?

Next I’ll pour the tea, keep your pinky’s in the air

Would you like some cake there’s plenty here to share for

    Tea Time, tea Time

Happy, happy, happy, happy tea time

    Oh tea time, tea time

Won’t you have tea with me?

Always use good manners, say please and thank you

When the tea is over the dishes I must do for

Happy, happy, happy, happy tea time

    Growin' Up

I’m gonna miss the friends I’ve made

My teacher’s voice and the games we’ve played

I’m movin’ on to the next grade

    Because I’m growing up

Every moment from day one, you held my hand and we had such fun

Circle time and time to run, we spent our moments well

My classroom holds a family, I’ve come to love and they love me

Some of them I’ll never see, when summer calls us home

I’m gonna miss the friends I’ve made

My teacher’s voice and the games we’ve played

I’m movin’ on to the next grade

    Because I’m growing up

As the leaves fall from the tree, the snowman yields to the buzzing bee

A butterfly now I must be, thanks for the memories

    Yeah, thanks for the memories

I’m gonna miss the friends I’ve made

My teacher’s voice and the games we’ve played

I’m movin’ on to the next grade

    Because I’m growing up

Yeah, I’m gonna miss the friends I’ve made

    Tired Town

Its time for a trip to Tired Town

    Everyone’s sleepy, let’s not make a sound

Eyelids are heavy, there’s love all around

Time for a trip to Tired Town

    All aboard, all aboard

All aboard the train to Tired Town

I hear the conductor he’s calling your name

Hand him your ticket and get on the train

The train that will take you where dreamers all go

Just close your eyes, hear the whistle blow

    All aboard, all aboard

All aboard the train to Tired Town

Snug in your bunk, all tucked in tight

Safe on the tracks ‘til first morning light

Carry no baggage, just enjoy the ride

When you awake, I’ll be by your side

    All aboard, all aboard

All aboard the train to Tired Town

    All aboard, all aboard

All aboard the train to Tired Town

    The train to Tired Town

    The train to Tired Town

NOTES
This is the 4th Jeanie B! and The Jelly Beans CD and I'm so excited I can't stand it! These songs have been tested on stage for the past 3 years already and have stood the test of time. So much to dance, sing and laugh along to. I always load my tracks with instruments and harmonies to give the listener plenty of ear candy and I think we got it just right! Here are some highlights:
The title track is a rockin', buzzing party that gets you jumpin' ! It has a feedback fade out that is my homage to Neil Young ( my hero)! I started to write it as an anti-sugar type song but got carried away and it's mostly just a fun romp!

Dance Party Every Night just makes me smile! I love to perform this one. If you aren't up and dancing along to this one, you must have fallen asleep. This will get your groove on!

I was asked to write a song about curbing the nose picking habits of youngsters by some preschool teachers at Cherry Preschool in Evanston IL, and that's how Please Don't Pick your Nose came to be. I love that it sounds like a serious bosa nova but is just fun and irreverant. It has actually worked though, many kids have reduced (can't say stopped) their nose picking habits from this song!!

I have never recorded a cover song before and I Am A Horse is my maiden voyage. I found this song on a CDRom that was inside a cereal box probably 10 years ago. It was on a JumpStart product and I just loved it! I could never find the writer but finally found the copyright holder so I could record it. I have changed it a lot from its original style to make it my own. I love horses and was thrilled to add this fun horse song to the repetroire.

There are songs that are just for fun and ones that have a message too. Kids are so open to being shaped by music and I love all the subjects they inspire in my songwriting. One of my favorites, (a Grateful Dead sounding track) is Jammies all Day Long. A little girl I have known for a few years, Clementine, just loves her footy pajamas. She wore them every day for a few years. Then, alas, she outgrew them. Not to be discouraged, she started wearing regular clothes but still putting her arms through the sleeves of her jammies and letting the legs hang down her back! Now, her arms are too big so she just ties the arms around her neck. I loved her attachment to these jammies so wrote the song to say we should all wear our jammies all day long, just like Clementine! You know you want to!!
I think reading is really important for kids to love so I wrote When you Open a Book to get them excited about picking up a book. It also has a very catchy sing-a-long part that just makes you feel good and tap your toes! It's not preachy, just fun which I hope conveys that reading is fun.

I love all the songs on this CD but one of my favorites is Tired Town. I love to write lullabies for bedtime and this may be my best. It's a metaphor about a train taking us to tired town. A wonderful musician and producer in his own right, Rich Rankin of Mosaic Music created the sound effects of a train using old peices of hardware and metal that he found in his basement. It sounds like the train going over the ties on the rails. He also made sound effects for Tea Time using actual tea cups. He tuned them by filling them with just the right amount of water so they were in pitch with the song!! Brilliant!

This CD is co-produced by me, Andon T. Davis (who has produced all my CD's including my adult music) and I was honored to have the 2010 Grammy Award winning Producer Michael Freeman at the healm as Mixer and co-producer this time around. I've never seen anyone finnesse a mix like Michael and he is the nicest man you'd ever want to meet. Andon is a monster talent in the studio, there is no stringed instrument he can't play and play better than anyone else. He is fun and encouraging and can hear how all the instruments should fit together in his head before I even start strumming. A real winning team.

I have to of course give love to my long time Jelly Beans Band; Jamie Martinez on Bass & Tuba, Paulie Bivans on Drums and Airan Wright on Sax and all other instruments you blow into! They are all solid pros and never miss a beat. I love working with these guys, it's just a party on stage and it makes the audience have more fun too. We're in Chicago, and would love to visit the rest of the world playing music!

I hope you'll have a listen, like what you hear, send me a note full of good cheer! Here's all the peeps that made it happen! I'm very blessed to have had the honor of working with these folks.

Thanks to all the beautiful kids that I have the privilege of knowing and playing music for, and the wonderful parents who keep bringing them back for more. You inspire me every day to keep writing songs. Thanks to The Jelly Beans for always having my back, and thanks especially to my own two kids, the amazing Joey and Bill. You are my world.

Here's a great review the CD got from NeuFutur Magazine

Jeanie B – Sugar Buzz (CD) / 2011 Self / http://www.jeaniebmusic.com

Most the time that we have reviewed a children’s-focused album, the resulting music was at a level below that of similar releases. Where there has been the rare children’s title that has been able to hang with other similar-genre releases, Jeanie B’s newest album Sugar Buzz easily pops to the top of the heap. Each of the tracks on Sugar Buzz do more than delight with catchy hooks and fun instrumentation – they will provide young-set listeners with the proper behaviors and ways of action in a variety of different situations.

Our favorite tracks on Sugar Buzz would have to include both Please Don’t Pick Your Nose and Jammies All Day Long. I believe that the allure that Jeanie B has really comes in the broad applicability of her songs to all audiences that would be listening in. The production and way that the band crafts the tracks on Sugar Buzz will be what brings fans in by the boatload. “When You Open A Book” is a perfect example of this, with a decidedly dense set of arrangements that belies the track’s straight-forward nature.

While there is no confusing that the music on Sugar Buzz is intended for children, I feel that the way in which Jeanie B and the rest of her band throw themselves into each of the album’s cuts will ultimately make it easy for adults to enjoy what’s present. Make sure to pick up a copy of Sugar Buzz in October from iTunes or from Jeanie B directly; it will do admirably in a holiday package or as a birthday gift. Jeanie B will be hitting live stops through September and October; check out her website above and see where she’ll stop.
