Story

This was the very first song I wrote for kids. My first born was just a baby and I wrote this in the wee hours of the morning after returning from a Neil Young and Crazy Horse concert where I had sung along so loud and so long that my voice was truly gone. Only squeaks came out but I wrote this and recorded the squeaks that night with all the love in the world pouring out of me. Only a new Mom understands this special time.   I love my children so deeply.  We all do. Thank you kids for inspiring me and leading me to the dream career that I now have.

Lyrics

I smell your neck, I kiss your hand

I stroke your cheek, I understand

Your little heart, so close to mine

Those tiny feet, just make me cry

‘cause you’re my baby sent here from God

And I’m the one that you’ll call Mom

Yea you’re my baby sent here from God

And I’m the one, yeah I’m the one

The lucky one

Your tender lips, that suckle sweet

The smell of love, you’re so complete

Your silky skin, your tummy round

You will always make me proud

‘cause you’re my baby sent here from God

And I’m the one that you’ll call Mom

Yea you’re my baby sent here from God

And I’m the one, yeah I’m the one

The lucky one

Those chunky legs, and toes to eat

Your precious face, is just so sweet

I see your smile, I hush your cry

And so I’ll sing this lullaby

‘cause you’re my baby sent here from God

And I’m the one that you’ll call Mom

Yea you’re my baby sent here from God

And I’m the one, yeah I’m the one

The lucky one
